“If you have the opportunity to book Kate Schatz, please do. She is heart-centered, smart, funny, and a champion for people, equity and humanity!”

I love doing school visits.

I’ve done over 250 assemblies, classroom visits, and author talks at K-5, middle, and high schools, and numerous colleges. I’m based in the San Francisco Bay Area but travel to schools across the country, and have done many virtual visits as well.

My school visits are:

  • “Absolutely fantastic, engaging and fun”

  • Appropriate and scaffolded for all grade levels

  • Uniquely tailored to the needs and interests of your school community

I present my books, read excerpts, and share insights on the writing process, what it’s like to be an author, how I do my research, and anything else that students ask during the Q+A (truly my favorite part).

I also offer Creative Writing workshops and full-day visits where I meet with multiple classes, clubs, and student groups.

My presentations shine the light on marginalized women and folks who have worked hard for peace, justice, and equity. I use humor and storytelling to convey content that, in this current moment, is more important than ever.

Across the country books are being banned, histories are being erased, and schools that value diversity are under attack. My books are Common Core-aligned and based on extensive, thorough research.

Students of all racial and gender identities feel seen and celebrated by my books, and I don’t take that lightly. In fact, it’s why I do what I do!

“After Kate’s visit two of my students now dream of being authors when they grow up! It has been several months since her visit and my class still speaks about the celebrity author that came to inspire us.”

-C. Guenther, 4th grade teacher

“Kate tailored six back-to-back presentations for each individual grade, and engaged, entertained, and enlightened each masterfully. She highlighted her own experiences as a woman author while giving voice to the diversity of RAD women in herstory. We plan to invite this rad woman back!

-John Muir Elementary School PTA Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

“Kate has a remarkable ability to ignite creativity and curiosity in young minds, and it was truly inspiring to witness the profound effect she had on our students.”

-E Thomas, Academy of Alameda
